Baths in Thousand Oaks

Bathroom remodeling in Thousand Oaks that holds up behind the tile

A bathroom remodel in Thousand Oaks usually begins with something plain: a tub nobody uses, a shower that is too small, a vanity with no storage, or tile that has seen better years. In a lot of tract homes, the primary bath is tight and the hall bath serves the whole family.

Girl Flip Construction is a licensed California general contractor, women-led and family-owned, and we take on bathroom projects in Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Valley. As a bathroom remodeling contractor, we handle demolition, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tile, glass, vanities and paint, and we coordinate the trades so the schedule stays tight.

Bathrooms look simple and are not. Water finds every shortcut, so most of the value in a bath is in what you never see again once the tile goes up. We build the hidden layers first and the pretty ones second.

Primary Suites & Hall Baths

Making the most of the bathrooms you have

Converting a tub into a walk-in shower is one of the most common requests we hear, and in a primary bath it can make the room feel larger. A frameless glass panel, a niche, a bench and a linear drain all fit in a footprint that once held a tub. Hall baths, by contrast, benefit from a tub-shower that still works for kids, with durable tile and a vanity with real storage.

In a larger primary suite, a double vanity, a separate toilet room or a freestanding tub might be on the table. We measure first, because a few inches decide what fits. Vanity height, door swing, towel storage and where the toilet sits all get settled on paper before anything is ordered, which saves expensive changes later.

Waterproofing & Tile

Waterproofing and tile done in the right order

A shower is only as good as its waterproofing. We build the slope, membrane and drain connection properly, test before tile, and then set the tile with attention to layout and grout lines. Large-format tile, mosaic floors and wall niches all look best when the layout is planned before the first tile is set.

Ventilation matters as well. A quiet, properly sized fan vented outside protects the finishes and keeps mildew from taking hold. We also look at lighting and outlets so the room works after the remodel as well as it looks. Heated floors, a niche at the right height, a handheld shower or a recessed medicine cabinet are small details that get decided before tile goes up, not after.

Permits

When a Thousand Oaks bathroom remodel needs a permit

Permits for a bathroom remodel in Thousand Oaks go through the City of Thousand Oaks Building Division. When plumbing moves, a shower or tub is relocated, a wall is changed or new circuits are added, a permit and inspections are generally required. A like-for-like swap of fixtures and finishes often is not. We tell you which applies, and we handle permit processing for the work we build. Moving a shower or adding a second sink can mean opening floors or walls, and the inspector will want to see rough plumbing before it is covered. We plan the schedule around those inspections, so tile does not go up on work that has not been checked.

Good Questions

Thousand Oaks Bathroom Remodeling FAQs

What should I look for in a bathroom remodel contractor in Thousand Oaks?
Look for a licensed general contractor who explains the waterproofing, writes a clear scope and handles permits. Girl Flip is licensed in California, and we begin with a free discovery call and an in-home walkthrough before we write an estimate.
How much does a bathroom remodel in Thousand Oaks cost?
It depends on the size, whether plumbing moves, the tile and fixtures you choose and what is found once walls are open. We do not quote from a phone call. After a walkthrough, you receive a clear written scope and estimate.
Can I turn my tub into a walk-in shower?
Usually, yes. We confirm the framing, drain location and waterproofing plan during the walkthrough, and we tell you if a permit applies. Many bathroom remodeling requests in Thousand Oaks are exactly this swap in a primary bath, and a glass enclosure keeps the space open.
Do you need a permit for a bathroom remodel?
If plumbing, electrical or walls change, generally yes, through the City of Thousand Oaks Building Division. Cosmetic updates in place often do not need one. We confirm which applies to your plan and handle the permit process on projects we build.
How long will my bathroom be out of service?
That depends on scope, permit needs and material lead times, particularly for custom glass, tile and vanities. After the walkthrough we describe the sequence and suggest how to plan around it, such as using a second bathroom while we work.
