Hidden Hills Remodeling

Kitchen remodeling in Hidden Hills starts with the property

Hidden Hills is a small, guard-gated city in Los Angeles County, right beside Calabasas. There are no sidewalks or streetlights, the roads wind through rural-feeling streets, and most homes sit on one to three acres, many with room for horses. A remodel here isn't like one in a typical tract neighborhood. The scale is different, the expectations are higher, and the approvals are more involved.

Kitchen remodeling in Hidden Hills tends to be ambitious. Homeowners want a kitchen that works for entertaining and everyday family life, often with a large island, a serious range, a walk-in pantry, and a clean connection to the yard, pool or outdoor kitchen. Many of the homes were built with grand floor plans but kitchens that haven't kept up.

Girl Flip Construction is a licensed, women-led, family-owned general contractor with kitchens at the core of what we do. We also handle whole-home remodels, additions, ADUs, bathrooms and flooring. If you want a contractor who is comfortable with detailed design, structural coordination and the review process here, we would like to talk.

Estate Properties

Large lots, big houses, and what remodels involve

Homes in Hidden Hills range from older ranch-style houses to substantial custom estates. Larger square footage means longer plumbing and electrical runs, bigger spans, and more complex mechanical systems. Opening a kitchen to a great room might involve beams and engineering that a smaller house wouldn't need.

The yard is part of the project. Many homeowners pair a kitchen remodel with a guest house, a pool house, or an ADU. Hidden Hills allows accessory dwelling units, and detached units on big lots are a natural fit, though the city's rules and association review shape what is possible.

Equestrian features add another layer. Corrals and stables have their own setback and permit requirements, and we keep that in mind when planning additions or outbuildings on the same property.

Approvals

Two layers of review: the city and the Community Association

Hidden Hills is an incorporated city with its own Building and Safety Department at 6165 Spring Valley Road. It also has the Hidden Hills Community Association, whose Architectural Committee reviews exterior design, and the city does not issue a building permit for exterior work until that committee has signed off.

That means exterior elevations, materials, additions and outbuildings need to be presented and approved before permits move forward. Interior work like a kitchen remodel generally avoids that step, but anything that changes the outside of the house, including windows, doors and rooflines, may not. We confirm which applies to your plan at the start.

Girl Flip manages submittals through our preconstruction package, which covers plans, structural engineering, energy compliance and permit processing. Because wildfire is a real concern in the hills around Calabasas, we also keep fire-related construction standards in mind as design decisions are made.

Our Process

How a Hidden Hills project unfolds

We start with a free discovery call, then visit the property for a walkthrough. On an estate-scale home, the walkthrough matters a great deal. We look at structure, access for materials, existing systems, and how the kitchen relates to the rest of the house and the outdoor areas.

You then receive a clear scope and estimate. Cost and schedule depend on the size of the project, the review process, and material lead times, particularly for custom cabinetry, specialty appliances and natural stone.

Once approved, we build, and we close with a final walkthrough. Gate access, delivery logistics and neighbor considerations get planned up front.

Good Questions

Hidden Hills Remodeling FAQs

Do you handle kitchen remodeling in Hidden Hills?
Yes. Kitchens are our specialty, and we take on large-scale projects including layout changes, custom cabinetry, large islands, pantries and indoor-outdoor connections. We coordinate design, structural work and permits so the project runs as one.
Does my Hidden Hills remodel need Community Association approval?
Exterior changes generally go through the Hidden Hills Community Association's Architectural Committee before the city will issue a permit. Interior-only kitchen work often doesn't, but we confirm the requirement with the city and association before you commit.
Who issues building permits in Hidden Hills?
The City of Hidden Hills Building and Safety Department issues permits, not Los Angeles County. We prepare the drawings and engineering, submit them, and manage inspections as part of our preconstruction service.
Can you build an ADU or guest house in Hidden Hills?
We build ADUs and additions. Hidden Hills allows accessory dwelling units, but placement, size and design are subject to city rules and association review. We study your lot and the rules before drawing anything.
What does home remodeling in Hidden Hills cost?
It varies widely with square footage, finishes and structural work, so we don't quote numbers in advance. After a walkthrough and a defined scope, you receive a written estimate that reflects your specific property.
Can you coordinate gate access and deliveries?
Yes. Gated communities need advance planning for crews, vendors and deliveries. We plan access and logistics early, and we keep the job site organized so the project respects your neighbors.
