Kitchens and Baths in Long Beach

Kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling in Long Beach, backed by HGTV-level work

Long Beach is one of the few places outside Los Angeles where Girl Flip has a signature project. For HGTV and Tarek El Moussa, we completed a full gut remodel with an addition on a Long Beach house, and then designed and built two brand-new detached, side-by-side ADUs on the same property. Coordinating two new structures and a remodel at once is a rare, complex job, and it taught us how Long Beach lots, utilities and inspections work.

That experience carries into every kitchen and bathroom we plan here. Long Beach homes range from Craftsman bungalows and Spanish Colonial houses near the bluffs and Belmont Heights to mid-century ranches in neighborhoods like Los Altos and Wrigley. Most have kitchens and baths that were last updated long ago.

Girl Flip is a licensed, women-led, family-owned contractor, and kitchens are our specialty. We handle the layout, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, counters, tile and finishes under one roof.

What We Build

What a Long Beach kitchen and bathroom remodel includes

Every Long Beach project is scoped in writing after a walkthrough. These are the jobs we plan most often here.

01

Opening the kitchen to the dining room

In the Long Beach HGTV project, we opened the floor plan and built a large island at the center of the kitchen. We do the same for older bungalows with closed-off kitchens.

02

Cabinets, counters and islands

Wood-grain and flat-panel cabinets, stone counters and seated islands, built to fit your walls and your storage habits.

03

Full bathroom remodels

Original hall baths rebuilt with new plumbing, a proper shower pan, tile and a vanity that fits.

04

Tub-to-shower conversions

A walk-in shower opens up a small bathroom. We handle the drain, valve, waterproofing, tile and glass.

Flooring through the main living space

Wide-plank or luxury vinyl flooring carried through the kitchen and living areas, so the house reads as one space.

Local Considerations

Permits, older homes and coastal considerations in Long Beach

Long Beach is its own city, so permits go through the City of Long Beach building department, not LADBS. Moving walls, relocating plumbing, adding circuits or changing a gas line generally needs a permit and inspection. Swapping cabinets and counters in place often does not. We tell you which category your plan falls into and handle the paperwork when a permit applies.

Many Long Beach homes date from the 1920s through the 1950s. Original wiring, galvanized plumbing and older panels are common, and we look at them during the walkthrough so there are fewer surprises once demo starts.

Homes near the water may face coastal-zone review for exterior work, and salt air is hard on some fixtures and finishes. Interior kitchen and bathroom remodels are usually less affected, and we confirm for your address.

Process and Timeline

How a Long Beach remodel runs, in short

A kitchen remodel starts with a discovery call and a walkthrough, then a written scope and estimate. Design and selections usually take 2 to 4 weeks, and permit review runs 2 to 8 weeks or more when a permit applies. Demo takes 2 to 5 days, and the full project usually runs about 3 to 5 months from signed contract to final walkthrough. A typical bathroom takes about six weeks to build once work starts.

Featured Work

Long Beach work you can judge for yourself

The HGTV Long Beach project began with a full gut remodel and an addition. The kitchen now has wood-grain cabinets, a stone island with seating, a gas range and hardwood-look floors that run through the open living space. We then built two new detached ADUs from the ground up.

Most mid-range kitchen remodels in Los Angeles start in the $50K to $100K range, and larger or high-end kitchens move well past that. These are general market ranges, not a quote. Your number depends on layout changes, cabinet type, counters, appliances and what we find behind the walls. Our remodel cost guide breaks it down.

Yes. After the full gut remodel and addition, we designed and built two brand-new detached, side-by-side ADUs from the ground up on the same property. It was a complex project that required close coordination across both structures.
